Crochet Fruit Coasters Pattern

Crochet Fruit Coasters Pattern

With the nice weather we are having, I was suddenly inspired to make fruit coasters. I love the way they turned out and I think they would be a fabulous hostess gift and a lot of fun to have out for your spring or summer get togethers!

Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Vanna’s Choice in Scarlet (red), Mustard (yellow), Fern (green), Terracotta (orange), White, and Chocolate (brown). You can find and purchase these at www.lionbrand.com. The pink in the watermelon is Red Heart with Love Bubble Gum.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle

Orange/Lemon/Lime Coaster Pattern:
Starting with white yarn…
Magic Ring, chain 1, make 12 SC inside magic ring, join to first SC, change color to the main fruit color, chain 2 (12 SC)
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (24 DC)

Round 3: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next stitch, repeat around, join, change color back to white, chain 1 (36 DC)

Round 4: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next two stitches, repeat around, change color back to main fruit color, chain 1 (48 SC)
Round 5: SC in each stitch around, join to first SC, fasten off and weave in ends. (48 SC)
To make the fruit sections you will want to surface slip stitch with white yarn. HERE is great tutorial on how to surface slip stitch. I did not make one continues surface slip stitch. I started and stopped 6 times to create each section line. You will want to make surface slip stitch lines shooting out from every other stitch in round 1 for a total of 6 surface slip stitch lines. Sorry, there are a lot of ends to weave in, but I found this way to look the best once complete.
Pear Coaster Pattern:

Row 6: SC across (6 SC)
Row 7: SC decrease, SC in next 2, SC decrease, chain 1, turn
Row 8: Make 2 SC decreases, chain 1,
